Strategy Document

Following community consultation, the Future Proof Strategy was adopted by partner Councils on the 30 June 2009.

Future Proof takes a long-term approach to how we address the key issues facing the sub-region in a more integrated way. It is about creating a strong and sustainable future for all of us who make the Waikato District, Waipa District and Hamilton areas home. These areas make up the Future Proof sub-region and are the focus of the strategy. Future Proof looks out 50 years from now and has been worked on jointly by partner councils Hamilton, Waikato and Waipa Districts, Environment Waikato and by Tāngata Whenua. The New Zealand Transport Agency and Matamata-Piako District Council have been supporters of and involved in the development of the strategy Future Proof is a significant milestone for the sub-region as we work together to map out how we manage future growth.
